New Releases that I highly recommend!

If you're a fan of 70's progressive rock, you'll love Opeth's new release 'Heritage'. No more death metal vocals on this release, which has pissed off some of their hard core death metal fans. I'm a bit fonder of Mikael's cleaner vocals though. In True Opeth fashion, this is a very different CD from anything they've done before. There's a warmth that screams to have this played on vinyl. Sounds alot like Richie Blackmore, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, etc with some bouts of jazz fusion. It's still Rock, and sometimes heavy.

Another one of my favorite Artists has just released the 1st ever album to be released on blu ray 5.1 surround sound, Steven Wilson's 'Grace for Drowning'. This is his 2nd solo release. Steven Wilson (porcupine tree, bass communication, no man, and blackfield) has produced many albums and has a few grammy's. Oddly enough still not many are farmiliar with his music. This new release is a more grandios production than other releases. Seems to be a bit more Jazz infused with 'Grace for Drowning'. I love pretty much anything this guy puts out, especially the Porcupine Tree cd's 'Fear of a Blank Planet', 'In Absentia', 'Stupid Dreams', and my all time fave, 'Deadwing'. For full impact, all these titles are available in DVD audio formal.

Others to check out: OSI (supergroup formed of members of Fates Warning, Dream Theater, members from porcupine tree, and Opeth frontman) very interesting stuff here.
Also, if you do like the heavier stuff, check out Florida's own TRIVIUM. The're what I would call polished death metal with the growls AND clean vocals.
Marilyn Manson's new Disc 'Born Villain' due out in abouta month. Not majorly crazy about what I've heard so far, but MM takes a lil while to sink in sometimes. I did like his last release, 'The High End of Low' when not many others did. Then again, thats just me, so I'll leave you with this.
